1956 Allis-Chalmers HD-6B.
Manufactured by the Allis-Chalmers Mfg. co., Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The A.C. Hd-6 was introduced in 1955 and variants of it were produced into the 1970s. It is powered by an Allis Chalmers, four-cylinder, four-cycle, 344 CID diesel engine with a 4 7/16" x 5 9/16" bore and stroke that is capable of producing 60 1/2 belt horsepower and 39 1/2 drawbar horsepower. The HD-6B is the wide track variant and uses a 60" tread width. Because these tractors were intended to be used for both agricultural and industrial uses, a number of track, shoe, and sprocket guard combinations were available. An optional rear mounted belt pulley and PTO shaft were also available. Standard features included a five speed transmission and a 24 volt electrical system. The tractor weighs over 13,500 pounds. This tractor was originally purchased by Nobuo Otsuka for his truck farm in Spring Valley, CA. This was the farm's primary tractor and was used for all of the ground preparation. The family of Nobuo has entrusted this tractor to Scott Fraser to help preserve the memory of Nobuo Otsuka - grower, packer, and shipper.
