1959 John Deere 730 Diesel
The John Deere 730 was never tested by the University of Nebraska. However, the
Model 720, a very similar model, was tested in 1956. The 730 used a John Deere
two-cylinder horizontal diesel engine with a V-4 gasoline starter engine. The 730 was
capable of producing over 56 belt horsepower.
This tractor was purchased by the current owner in 1992 from a farm in Iowa.
It had been used on 50 acres of land. The special 810A 4-16" slat bottom plow
was used primarily in the heavy clay soil, because other style plows would not scour.
