1926-27 John Deere Model E 1 1/2 h.p.
Manufactured by Deere & Co., Moline Illinois
The Model E was one of the first engines to use an enclosed crankcase and self-lubrication,
a great advantage over the open-crankcase engines, which were susceptible to dirt and the
weather. It also features a low-tension ignition system. All parts of these engines were
built by John Deere. The Model E was produced in 1 1/2, 3, & 6 h.p. sizes. The 1 1/2 h.p.
model used a 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" bore and stroke.
